A DIVORCED man accused of raping a married Worcester woman told a jury she gave out “sexual signals” inside a city nightclub.
They kissed, danced and the 30-year-old laughed and was happy, claimed Udi Yamini. He bought her and two other women drinks while he downed six double whiskies in three hours at SJ’s in The Trinity.
He said: “She was having a good time. She gave me all kinds of sexual signals. I was excited, she was excited.”
Yamini, who had also drunk four glasses of wine before going out, offered to take the woman home after a taxi driver refused because she had no money, Worcester Crown Court heard.
He said: “I didn’t think about having sex with her. I just wanted to help her. I said don’t worry, I’m an Israeli, you can trust me.”
But after getting lost on the journey he parked the Volvo, insisting the woman invited him into the back of the car where they had consensual sex. He maintained he ended a two-minute love session when the woman began shouting at him to stop.
Yamini, aged 29, formerly of Hawkwood Crescent, St John’s, Worcester, denies rape on Saturday, May 3.
The prosecution alleges the woman’s best friend overheard her being attacked during a phone call from inside the car.
It is claimed the woman was “borderline senseless” due to alcohol and prescribed drugs for bipolar disorder and could not consent to sex.
Father-of-one Yamini told the jury they went outside SJ’s for a smoke at 3.10am. They then began walking, stopping every few metres to kiss. He said: “She was not so drunk I couldn’t communicate with her. Both of us were not walking straight and helped each other.”
He parked the car after the woman was unable to tell him where she lived. He told the jury: “She was hot with lots of passion. She was happy and laughing.”
He alleged that after the sex the woman asked for £20, which annoyed him. He asked if she was a prostitute and told her he had never paid for sex. Then he ordered her out of the car.
The court heard Yamini was arrested three days later in Swindon. He allegedly told officers: “That bitch. Because I didn’t give her money she says it’s rape.”
Detectives said the alleged victim told her friend in the phone call she was scared and lost. Grunting noises were then heard.
Yamini said he was not a violent man. But the jury was told he had a conviction for assault in 2005 in Israel.
The trial continues.
