ROCK veteran John Otway performs at Huntingdon Hall in Worcester next week.
The performer, who once dubbed himself “rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest failure” after unsuccessful attempts to produce a second hit single following on from 1977’s classic (Cor Baby, That’s) Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett, shook the one hit wonder label when his single Bunsen Burner – chosen by his loyal fans – reached number nine in the UK chart.
More recently, his lyric Beware Of The Flowers Cause I’m Sure They’re Going To Get You, Yeah was voted one of the greatest of all time in a BBC poll.
An air of anarchy and surreal sense of humour has kept Otway touring throughout the years and to his credit, critics have praised him.
“He is gleeful, anecdotal, funny and life-enhancing,” said one reviewer.
Otway will perform with his big band in Worcester on Wednesday at 8pm.
