North Malvern Clock Tower was the toast of the town when visitors celebrated its return to glory with a glass of pure spring water.
The well at the tower has been restored as part of a £1 million project funded by the Heritage Lottery. The clock tower itself has benefited from restoration of the clock, repairs to the roof and the provision of ornamental gates.
The project was managed by the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and assistant manager David Armitage said: “I have not found anyone alive who rem-embers water flowing there and I’ve gone back quite a few years.
“The greatest thing is being able to restore it to its original use, which was a public water supply.”
The restoration is part of a wider scheme seeking to improve some of the key features of Malvern, with the water features and the hills a top priority.
Once completed, the project will have restored 20 water features around Malvern.
