THE far-right British National Party has more than 100 members in Worcestershire, according to a membership list posted on the internet this week.

The list includes the names of 30 current and former BNP members living in or around the city of Worcester, including that of murdered Warndon decorator John Lloyd.

Mr Lloyd, of Windermere Drive, was killed in a frenzied knife attack last year by a Portuguese national, Joao De Oliveira, who is currently serving life in prison for his murder.

Yesterday Mr Lloyd’s sister admitted that her brother had been a member of the BNP.

“Yes, he was a member,” Linda Rimell said. “He had a lot of letters come through after his death – which we ignored.

“We all have our own views and opinions, and we have to respect what each other’s thoughts and views are.

“It was John’s life and he had a belief and I respect that – and John would respect mine. I am not embarrassed or ashamed of it. If his name is there it is there, he was an individual.”

The list also includes the names and addresses of several BNP activists who have stood unsuccessfully in Worcester City Council elections in recent years.

No one from the party locally was available to comment.

The total list carries more than 12,000 names, home addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail contact details of people from right across the country.

The far-right party’s leader said the list was “essentially genuine” and has threatened court action against those responsible. Earlier this year the BNP said it had ob- tained an injunction at the High Court in Manchester banning any publication of the list.

Party leader Nick Griffin said yesterday: “It was entirely wrongly used, without authority, by a very small group of previous party members who were expelled late last year, who then passed it on – to who we simply don’t know.

“All we can say is that if we find out who it was, and they are one of those covered by the High Court injunction, then they are going to prison.”
