A NEWSAGENT has plunged 12,000 feet to support a Worcester charity which helps bereaved children.

Peter Farrell, a sales assistant at Bridge News, Foregate Street, Worcester, along with his friend Dougie Caldwell, raised more than £1,000 for the Noah’s Ark Trust.

The pair were hoping to do the jump in September but bad weather prevented them from taking the plunge until last month.

Mr Farrell, whose family have owned the independent newsagent for 11 years, said it was a great experience. He said: “When the door is opened the noise is terrific – you can hardly hear anything anyone is saying and the instructors use sign language.

“Then you have to swing your legs out of the plane and at this point you get to see the distance to earth.

“Within seconds you are airborn and the noise is incredible.

It was the most thrilling, exciting thing either of us had ever done and we both just wanted to get back on the plane and have another go.”

Noah’s Ark is currently expanding its services to help more children and their families who have suffered the bereavement of a loved one and they are looking for a property they can rent for a reasonable rate. Your Worcester News has teamed up with the charity with the Towards A Brighter Future Appeal to help raise funds for this expansion.

Mr Farrell said: “We would like to thank all those people who kindly sponsored us.

“Anyone who has yet to pay, please do so as soon as possible so the charity can get the cash and put it to use.”
