A CYCLIST who needed hospital treatment after he was knocked down on a busy roundabout believes the driver who hit him gave him false details.

Luke Gregg was knocked off his bike on a roundabout in Droitwich when he says a car cut across him as it turned left.

Mr Gregg of Shepherd’s Place, Westlands, Droitwich was thrown off the bike during the collision which left him with a badly bruised back, cuts to both hands and a scrape to the right side of his face.

He was in so much pain he had to take a week off work following the incident at about 7am on Friday, November 8.

The 26-year-old who works in Worcester had been turning right on the roundabout as he cycled towards Droitwich railway station when a car travelling on the A38 towards Bromsgrove cut across him.

The driver stopped and gave details but Mr Gregg believes they must have been false as police have not been able to trace the driver. He said: “The car cut across me and I landed on the ground. I think I was thrown quite a way – four or five metres. After the accident my main concern was to get off the road.

“I have contacted the police and not one person has reported it. After it happened I was in excruciating pain.

“Every time I stood up there was a shooting pain. It was agonising. I’m still in a lot of pain and would like to see justice done.”

His wife, Adele Gregg, took him to A&E at Worcestershire Royal Hospital but fortunately he suffered no broken bones and the bike itself was only scratched.

He wants the four or so witnesses at the scene to come forward to help identify the driver. A police spokesman has urged the driver and other witnesses to come forward.

The car involved was black, possibly a Mercedes although Mr Gregg has not identified a precise model.
