RESIDENTS who think their property is not suitable for wheelie bins, want different sized ones, or think they will need assistance with their collections are being asked to let Wychavon District Council know before it is too late.
Any household that falls under phase two of the scheme and wants alternative arrangements to be made should let the council know by returning coupons on the leaflets sent out to them before Friday. If requests are returned after this date, then residents may have to wait until after the introduction in March for their requests to be implemented.
Leaflets explaining the process have been delivered to about 40,000 households, while Wychavon has also put on more than 50 roadshows and been visited by more than 3,000 people across the district.
Councillor Anna Mackison said: “It’s been a hectic time touring village halls, supermarkets, schools, party in the parks, housing association open days and community group meetings but it’s been good to meet with so many residents and explain how the system works.”
The households affected by phase two include all of the wards in Droitwich, Pershore, Eckington, Bredon, South Bredon Hill, Fladbury, Elmley Castle and Somerville, all Evesham wards, Broadway and Wickhamford, Badsey, Bretforton and Offenham, the Littletons, Honeybourne and Pebworth, Harvington and Norton, plus parishes of Westwood, Cookhill, Abbots Morton, Rous Lench, Abberton and Church Lench.
We previously reported in your Worcester News how phase one, which went out to about 12,000 homes, was criticised by residents and councillors for the slow rollout of bins and confusion over collection dates in certain areas.
