SCHOOLCHILDREN took part in a special service of remembrance to pay tribute to war heroes past and present.
Abbey Park Middle School were at Pershore Abbey for yesterday’s service, which was also attended by members of the town’s Royal British Legion as well as Pershore and District Royal Naval Association.
Led by the Reverend Chris Stuart, the pupils learned about the tradition of remembrance and heard from guest speakers Nathan John from Pershore High School and Malcolm Westerman from the Pershore branch of the Royal British Legion.
They also watched as standards were lowered during a rendition of the Last Post, while two pupils from the Abbey Road school also carried a wreath to the altar.
Royal Naval Association secretary Trudy Burge said: “The procession then went down to the war memorial where the school wreath was laid and all the pupils walked round before heading back to class.”
