BEAUTY spot visitors are being reminded to take all their valuables out of their cars after three handbag thefts.
Police issued a warning after thieves targeted cars parked in Hanbury Woods at Dodderhill Common over the past few weeks.
The back windscreen of a silver Nissan Almera was smashed and two handbags containing purses and house keys were stolen in the first theft between 1pm and 2pm on Saturday, October 25.
Then on Saturday, November 1, between 11.30am and 11.45am the driver’s side lock of a red Renault Clio was broken and two handbags containing purses, keys, a mobile phone and other valuables were stolen.
The passenger side rear window of a Ford Focus was then smashed and a handbag containing a purse was stolen between 1pm and 2.50pm on Sunday, November 16.
Droitwich CSO (Community Support Officer) Jennah Douglas said: “Some of these items had been hidden by the owners of the vehicles under the seat in the boot and the cars were still broken into.”
She advised people to leave valuables at home and not provide “easy pickings” for thieves.
Police are running patrols in the area, putting up signs in the woods and leafleting drivers to get home the message.
Anyone with information about the thefts or future incidents in the area should call police on 0300 333 3000, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
