WE got off to a tremendous start with Jerry Wooldrige giving an illustrated talk entitled Spectacular Caves and Wheelchair Travels.
He astounded us not only with his amazing pictures of vast subterranean cave systems around the world, but also his attitude to life bearing in mind his disability.
Truly an inspirational person.
Black-and-white photography has a large and enthusiastic following in the club, so it was a pleasure to welcome Peter Clark on October 14 to give a talk entitled My Life in Mono.
Peter showed why he is a master of monochrome landscape photography whether darkroombased or digital, with outstanding black and white prints.
Club members were able to put the earlier talks to good use when we ran club competition number two in the middle of the month, judged by Mike Jemmett.
The following members achieved full marks:
● Colour prints/gold section: Richard Wood with Beyond The Dilapidation; Clive Haynes with Resolute Lady; Bob Tunstall with Banded Demoiselle.
● Colour prints/silver section: John Woodcock with Rodeo; Gary Higgins with The Trombonist.
● Monochrome prints section: Roger Blandford with The Last Embrace; Clive Haynes with Crossfire.
At the end of the month, an outstanding nature photographer, Terry Wall gave an illustrated talk on Wildlife And The Environment in two very different locations, Digital Africa and A Wall At The End Of The World. The club has an ongoing exhibition in the Swan Theatre, Worcester.
