CHILDREN and adults with learning difficulties took part in a competitive hockey competition in Worcester at the weekend.
Twenty-five hockey teams from across the West Midlands turned up to Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Bilford Road, on Saturday to play in a total of 99 games at the event organised by Special Olympics Worcestershire.
Organiser June Samuels said it was a busy but enjoyable day for all of the participants, who ranged from as young as eight to more than 50 years old.
“It went very well indeed,” she said. “Some teams did better than others but everyone had a wonderful day.”
Mrs Samuels said that although some teams won trophies everybody went home with a medal.
“Everybody enjoyed it and we’ve had very good feedback from the clubs around the region,” she said.
The mission of Special Olympics Worcestershire is to provide sports training and competitions for children and adults with learning difficulties, giving them opportunities to develop fitness, demonstrate courage and participate in sharing their skills and friendship with others.
