THE Opera Dudes bring their mix of opera, swing, show-stoppers and impressions to Malvern Wells village hall on Sunday, November 23.
As part of their ‘Licensed to Trill’ tour, the duo of professional tenors will use both live piano accompaniment and backing tracks to showcase a range of musical genres, even somehow managing to fit in a Donald Duck routine.
The Opera Dudes are two tenors from very different backgrounds.
Neil Allen started singing in the pubs and clubs of Nottingham when he was working as a builder.
After a lengthy period retraining as an operatic tenor he now performs all over the world.
Tim Lole first sang as a cathedral chorister before studying at Cambridge and pursuing a career as a conductor and pianist. However, he soon realised he wasn’t getting enough attention behind the keyboard and decided that tenors had all the fun.
Since 2000 the Opera Dudes have been delighting audiences with their unique mix of great singing, unique musical arrangements and off the wall humour. Their performances have impressed celebrities including Rick Parfitt of Status Quo (“I’m not really into opera but these guys were great”) and Peter Sissons (“That was fabulous singing”).
The show, which starts at 8pm, is part of the Shindig programme sponsored by The Wells Revellers.
