DETAILS have emerged of the torture ordeal suffered by a county businessman who was attacked at gunpoint in his home.
Your Worcester News revealed yesterday how Maurice Nixon was tied up by three men at his home in Mustow Green, near Harvington, on Sunday evening.
He was threatened with a gun, tied up and beaten with a crowbar. But it has now emerged he had holes drilled into his legs with a screwdriver.
His younger sister Kim Nixon said the wounds in his legs created by the screwdriver are nearly half an inch deep.
“That is torture, it is despicable,” she added.
Mr Nixon, a property developer and market operator in charge of Portobello and Spitalfields markets, London, remains in Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
“Doctors are worried about his kidneys and the toxins from the holes in his legs,” Ms Nixon said.
Messages of support have been flooding in for Mr Nixon who was tied up by three men at his home in Mustow Green, near Harvington His younger sister Kim Nixon said: “There have been lots of messages of support, which is great.”
The 50-year-old’s family is still offering a substantial reward for any information which will lead to the arrest and conviction of the robbers.
Mr Nixon returned to his home, where he lives alone, at 6.30pm on Sunday.
He was set on by three men, two wearing masks, who then dragged him inside and threatened to shoot him.
He was tied to the stair rail as the men stole a quantity of cash. He was left for 15 hours until someone found him.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Lloyd of Kidderminster CID said: “This was a very unusual incident and we are still trying to establish exactly what happened.
“The victim is understandably very distressed and is still being treated in hospital for his injuries.
“We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, including anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Harvington area on Sunday evening, to contact us on 0300 3333000 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
