A MAN has died and an elderly couple have been seriously injured following a two car collision.
The incident happened on the A442 near Hampton Lovett in Droitwich just after 12.30pm yesterday.
Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, and incident support officer accompanied by a student paramedic, a BASICS Emergency Doctor and the County Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find two cars which had been involved in a significant collision.
“The driver of one car, a man, suffered serious multiple injuries in the crash.
“Unfortunately it immediately became apparent to crews that nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A woman from the second car, believed to be in her 70s, suffered two fractured wrists and suspected internal injuries and was trapped in the car for a period.
“Ambulance crews worked with fire fighters to release her from the car whilst she received medical treatment. The woman was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board before being flown to Selly Oak Hospital where medics were on standby awaiting her arrival.
“A man from the second car, also believed to be in his 70s and the woman’s husband, suffered hip and pelvic injuries. Crews treated the man at the scene and he was given pain relief and oxygen before being immobilised and taken by land ambulance to the same hospital.”
