A HOMELESS man who tried to break into a cellar and swore at police officers has appeared at Worcester Magistrates court.
Patrick Niblett, aged 68, had been on Northfield Street, off Sansome Walk, when he tried to gain entrance into a cellar.
Sally Hill, prosecuting, said a female living there saw what was happening, at around 9.45pm on Monday, October 6, and called police.
When they arrived, they searched the area and saw Niblett, who fitted the description, walking in the middle of the road.
He gave them a false name, and said he would kick the police car, and swore.
Mrs Hill said: “He showed all the signs of being drunk. He was arrested.”
When he was released on bail he failed to attend a court date at the end of the month.
Niblett admitted both offences of being drunk and disorderly and also failing to attend court.
In defence, Nick Roberts said Niblett was known by the police and disputes that he gave a false name, but accepts he swore at police.
Mr Roberts added that as Niblett got his dates confused.
District Judge Bruce Morgan highlighted Niblett’s 112 convictions and 13 previous failure to attends, and sentenced him to 15 days in prison.
