THE parents who helped their paralysed son travel abroad to die are waiting to hear their fate.
Mark and Julie James travelled to Switzerland with their tetraplegic son Dan from their home in Sinton Green, near Worcester.
The 23-year-old checked into a clinic where he died on Friday, September 12, and since then his parents have been questioned by police.
On Wednesday, West Mercia police passed the file to the complex casework unit of the Crown Prosecution Service.
A spokesman for the CPS unit said: “The head of the Complex casework unit will now review the file and once he has gone through everything I will make a decision.”
It is not known how long this process will take.
As previously reported in your Worcester News, Mr James was paralysed from the chest down following a rugby accident last year.
He made several attempts to commit suicide and his parents said he had “gained his wish” by travelling to Switzerland to die.
It is illegal to assist suicide in this country, an offence which carries up to 14 years in prison.
