SHOPKEEPERS will be monitoring who they sell flour and eggs to over the Halloween and bonfire night period.
Local policing teams have been visiting shops in the south Worcestershire police division area and asking them to display posters informing customers that flour and eggs will only be sold to over 18s or those accompanied by an adult.
PC Paul Adams, who is overseeing the project, said: “This is a purely voluntary scheme but we hope as many shops as possible will join in to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents during the period.
“Unfortunately, a minority of people can use these products to vandalise property when trick or treating and although such trick incidents are thankfully few and far between, we hope this move can help to prevent any.”
