A 19-YEAR-OLD man has been fined £125 after breaching an order handed down under new police powers.
Matthew Tulk is the first person in South Worcestershire to appear in court after failing to comply with a section 27 order.
Tulk was prosecuted after he failed to leave Worcester city centre, despite police ordering him to do so.
He had been stopped by officers on Sunday, September 28, after they suspected he was causing or contributing to alcohol-related crime and disorder.
Police used their powers under the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 to demand Tulk leave the city centre and not return within 12 hours .
But Tulk, of Kipling Close, off Bilford Road, Worcester was captured on CCTV shortly afterwards in the same location continuing the disorderly behaviour and was arrested.
Magistrates agreed he had breached the order and ordered him to pay £60 costs.
Andy Smith, geographical inspector for Worcester, said the new powers helped officers tackle alcohol related disorder and violent crime and kept the city centre safe.
