DEMAND to become a life-saver has become so high that a bigger venue is needed for training say ambulance chiefs.
So much interest has been expressed in training to use defibrillators in Ledbury that an alternative venue has had to be found according to the West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Ambulance bosses plan to place a defibrillator (a device used to restart someone’s heart when they’ve suffered a heart attack) in the centre of Ledbury at a site that will be secure, yet publicly accessible 24 hours a day.
The service is offering to train volunteers in its use, with training events originally planned at the town’s ambulance station.
But a spokesman for the service said: “We’ve had a great response to our training offer, so much so, that the training will now take place at the town’s St Catherine’s Hall.
"It’s still not too late to volunteer for training.”
Training is available on Saturday, November 1 between 9am and 1pm and between 2pm and 6pm.
Training is also held on Sunday, November 9 between 10am and 2pm.
Anyone else wishing to be trained in using a defibrillator can book their place via Saddle Bound Cycles of Ledbury on 01531 633433 or via Colin Rowberry, Chairman of Herefordshire and Worcestershire First Responders on 07747 767806 (evenings only).
