A DEPLETED attendance at the September meeting – several members still being in Greece – watched part of the long Greek film Rembetiko.
This was a fictionalised account of the life of Marika Ninou, a leading exponent of Rembetika music as it was transposed from Asia Minor (Turkey) to Greece as a result of the population exchange in the 1930s.
Despite some technical problems, a convivial evening was enjoyed by those attending. The raffle was won by Robin Walker.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 30, 7.30pm for 8pm at the Worcester Golf and Country Club, Bransford Road, Worcester, when the speaker Chris Lloyd from Malvern will be giving an account of the restoration and re-building of her village house in Crete.
