WORCESTER News weatherman Paul Damari has rejected predictions in the national press that the area will be hit by 70mph gales by the end of the week.
He said there could be gusts of about 30mph to 35mph on Thursday but that will clear to leave high pressure dominating with light winds and fine weather.
“This week is going to be mostly dry and fine. There will be winds gusting to 30mph to 35mph on Thursday. When that has gone through the winds will drop off.
"I think the week as a whole is not going to be bad at all. It will be mostly dry and any showers will be very scattered,” he said.
Temperatures are expected to stay between 14C to 16C (57F to 61F) for the week - which is average or above average for the time of year.
According to national newspapers Britain will descend into chaos by Friday as 70mph gales batter the country.
