A GRAND master of a martial arts school in Japan taught children in Worcester his ancient discipline.
Soke Fumon Tanaka, a world famous martial arts instructor, visited Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Saturday.
More than 200 children aged between five and 15 attended the seminar organised by Worcestershire Jujutsu teacher Ross Iannoccaro.
Mr Iannoccaro said: “It’s been a great turn out and parents have told me what a fantastic cultural and educational day it has been for their children.”
Soke Fumon Tanaka was joined by his daughter Midori and two of his senior students to give the demonstrations in these ancient skills.
Visitors were taught about how the staff, known as a Bo and the Bokto, a short wooden sword, were used in combat.
“It’s useful as it is self-defence and also builds on their self esteem,” said Mr Iannoccaro.
