ARCHIVE footage of bygone days is being shown on big screens around the county.
A host of film nights are running across the county from Thursday, throught to November, organised by Worcestershire County Council’s Record Office.
The Media Archive for Central England and 7 Inch Cinema have helped provide footage and stage the showings.
Each free screening lasts an hour - with half the viewing time dedicated to Worcestershire, and features reels form the record office and MACE Dates of showings as follows: Thursday, October 23 at 7.30pm at The Fleece Inn Barn in Bretforton Friday, October 24 at 6.30pm at Droitwich Spa Library Saturday, November 22 at 2pm at No 8 Arts Centre in Pershore Saturday, November 22 at 7pm at Gala Screening at the Guildhall in Worcester Paul Hudson, head of Worcestershire History Centre, said: “Old film footage is always popular because it brings the past to life in ways that other sources can’t.
“We have a wonderful mix of subjects and places so we are sure that each show will provide a great experience.”
The Heritage Lottery Fund has provided the record office with £43,700 to conserve and catalogue the film within its collections, and make it available for public screenings.
