WORCESTERSHIRE residents are invited to a free talk for a unique perspective on the river Severn on Tuesday.
The talk, which is entitled A View of the River Severn from Bewdley to Worcester, will be given by Brian Draper at the Pumphouse Environment Centre in Barbourne, Worcester, at 7.30pm.
Mr Draper, a former warden on the river Severn, will be sharing his observations and knowledge drawn from years of interest and experience of the river.
There will also be a chance to see a display of old documents associated with the river Severn from the Worcester Archive Source Project (WASP).
A second talk, The People of the River Severn by Dr Malcolm Nixon, is planned for Tuesday, November 18.
The talk is part of the Northwick Manor Community Heritage Project, a Heritage Lottery-funded initiative aimed at engaging and inspiring local people of all ages, through the historic landscape, archaeology and natural environment of Northwick and Bevere.
Project co-leader Deborah Overton, from Worcestershire County Council, said: “The Severn is a big part of Worcester’s identity, and understanding it is as important now as ever. Brian Draper has a unique insight into the river and promises to be a fascinating speaker.”
Booking is not required. People interested in finding out more should call 01905 855494.
