THE Worcester branch of a construction firm has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Carter Construction celebrated 10 years trading for its Worcester office with a reception for employees and clients at the Old Palace in Deansway.
Carter Construction has always had strong links with the Worcester area and the regional office in Vincent Road was established in 1998 to develop those links further.
Since then the company has seen a year-on-year growth of the Worcester business to an expected turnover of more than £8 million in 2008.
The Worcester team has completed more than 360 contracts during these 10 years in all sectors of the industry for local authorities, corporate, ecclesiastical, housing associations and private clients. One of the most prestigious was the construction of a new circular church hall and meeting rooms at St George’s Church Hall in Sansome Walk, Worcester, together with the renovation of the adjacent existing shops, for which the company received a civic award from Worcester City Council.
The Worcester branch employs nearly 30 people and uses more than 100 local sub contractors and suppliers. It is led by regional manager Dennis Nicholas.
Carter Construction, which has its head office in Gloucester, was one of the first building companies to achieve the Investor in People award in 1998.
It currently has 13 apprentices and five management trainees at various stages of their development, in addition to an extensive NVQ programme.
Two of these apprentices and one of the management trainees are based at Worcester.
In 2005 the firm achieved first place in a national award for the best place to work in construction, beating many top national contractors.
