Donations of more than £1,000 mean Evesham Hospital Radio can keep broadcasting.
The future of the station had looked in doubt last week because there was no money to replace important equipment that had failed.
However, over the past few days it has been inundated with donations, taking the amount of money raised to £1,200 – the figure needed to buy the new mixer and CD system it needs to carry on.
Fund-raiser Trudy Burge said: “The equipment was really on its last legs about a week ago and we only had £700 raised, which was well short of the money needed to replace it.
“But over the past few days I have been amazed at the level of generosity from local people and groups, particularly the Vale of Evesham Round Table, who donated £500, Marshalls Transport and the Vale of Evesham Lions Club.
“The response really has left a lump in my throat.
“People have been incredibly supportive despite the current financial climate. Without this money the station would not have been able to broadcast shows so the people who helped really have saved it.”
Mrs Burge said the radio station was important for many patients: “There are a lot of people in Evesham who are in hospital long term and not everybody has visitors which can be hard for them.
“Weekends are also a hard time hospitals but having friendly presenters talking about local things keeps people occupied and entertained.”
