MALVERN Hills Conservators are being recommended to spend £2,000 on a new fence at Berington Quarry, Little Malvern, to stop cattle from falling over the edge.

The conservators land management committee agreed a new fence should be provided to help protect the cattle grazing that part of the hills.

Conservation officer Rob Harvard is now recommending the administration and resources committee allocates £2,000 from the Parliamentary Fund to cover the costs.

The contractor Mendip Demrock doing the work will also make the quarry face is safe and assess the safety of the ground above the quarry.

The issue will be discussed by the administration and resources committee today.
