PEOPLE can find out how they can help police rid their communities of the scourge of anti-social behaviour.

The Not In My Neighbourhood week, which started yesterday, is a Home Office initiative running across south Worcestershire until Friday.

The scheme is aimed at raising public awareness about the police’s work tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in the area and tomorrow community support officers and police will be at the Fairfield Centre in Warndon, Worcester, giving safety talks and presentations.

Sgt Geoff Murphy, who heads up a six-member team tackling anti-social behaviour, believes work to stamp out the problem is paying off and making neighbourhoods better places to live.

He said: “The week highlights all that is being done to improve everyone’s quality of life where they live. People can go along way in helping to make their communities safer and happier by working with police and other agencies to make it clear anti-social behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

The team’s work is now being used as a model for the rest of West Mercia Constabulary.
