THE results are in and Worcester’s best gardeners will soon be recognised.
The annual Worcester In Bloom awards are held at Huntingdon Hall tomorrow night, with Gardeners’ World presenter Joe Swift handing out the coveted prizes.
The city’s summer gardening competition, in which allotments and gardens are assessed by a panel of judges and awards are given to those judged the most all round impressive, becomes more popular every year.
More than 200 guests, from members of the Worcester in Bloom Association to staff from Pershore College and city councillors, are expected to attend the awards ceremony, which will be officially opened by the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Lucy Hodgson, at 6.30pm.
Mr Swift, who presents Gardeners’ World and BBC’s Gardener of the Year, will hand out awards including best full allotment, best hanging basket, and best pub.
Linda Ohlson, organiser of Worcester in Bloom, said: “We’re thrilled that Joe has agreed to take part in the Worcester in Bloom awards.
“He is a very well-known and popular figure in the gardening arena and will certainly make the event an enjoyable one.”
