A WORCESTER student could soon be balancing fashion with science.
Sixteen-year-old Ruby Delord, who is doing GCSEs at Worcester College of Technology and wants to study forensic science, has made it through the regional heats of the Miss Teen Queen beauty pageant.
Ruby, of Dorothy Close, Northwick, needs the public vote to make it through to the next round and, if she wins, could represent the UK at an international contest.
The former Elgar College of Technology pupil was put forward by her sister Charlotte and has the support of her brother Jamie, who has set up a page on the social networking website facebook.com.
Ruby said: “I was not expecting to get this far so it’s exciting. We went to London for the photo shoot and I loved having my hair and make-up done. I haven’t really thought about becoming a model, but I think I’d really enjoy it.”
Proud mum Julie Dyde said her daughter, who works at dress shop Promesse in Upper Tything, Worcester, would make a fantastic model, but if things do not work out she has her college course to fall back on.
To vote for Ruby, visit teenqueen.co.uk or text RUBY DELORD to 84205. Messages cost 60p and voting closes on Friday, October 31.
