THE third Young Countryside Day organised by the Countryside Alliance Foundation is being held at Throckmorton Clay Shooting Club, near Pershore, on Tuesday, October 28.

The event is an opportunity for youngsters aged 11 to 16 to enjoy the great outdoors and learn about the rural way of life.

Clare Rowson, spokesman for the CAF, said: “The aim of the Young Countryside Day is to offer students the opportunity to experience countryside activities and enhance their appreciation of the countryside and its people.

Among many activities there will be the chance to handle ferrets, meet gundogs and see them in action, practise clay shooting and archery, and see birds of prey. The day will go some way to help educate the youngsters in subjects relating to the conservation, protection and enjoyment of the countryside.”

A team of fully qualified and accredited instructors will be accompanying the students along with at least one team leader per group, protective equipment will be provided where necessary.

Numbers are limited so advance booking only will grant a place. A £5 donation is required to help towards equipment costs.
