ABOUT 400 retired police officers and staff watched a dramatic dog display and went on bus tours during a special garden party held at West Mercia Constabulary’s headquarters.
The event offered guests, of which there were some widows and widowers of retired police officers and staff from across the force area, the chance to enjoy a fun day out at Hindlip Hall.
The rain held off to allow Community Support Officers to showcase their new bicycles after a service of thanksgiving at St James’ Church at about 2pm on Sunday.
A special exhibition for guests interested in the history of Hindlip Hall and the police was held in the main hall, a grade two listed Georgian manor house.
Chief Constable Paul West said: “It is important for us to remember the contribution that our former colleagues made towards the safety and security of our communities.”
Eddie Barry, who is chairman of the National Association of Retired Police Officers, said: “Events like this play an important role in helping to keep retired police officers and staff involved with what’s currently happening at the force.”
