LET’S hope the rain relents, because five members of Worcester and District Riding Club are off to Lincoln this weekend to compete against the country’s finest.
Making up teams in two disciplines, they will be competing at the British Riding Club’s National Championships, one of the major event’s in the country’s equestrian calendar.
The intermediate showjumping team will comprise Jodie Aston from Ombersley; Beth Evans and Rebecca Harris, Fernhill Heath and Vicki Hancox, Lower Broadheath.
The quartet qualified by winning the area 18 competition at Malvern in July.
Beth Evans was not originally part of this team, but was fifth individual and will be taking the place of Liz Warner from Worcester, whose mount has sadly died. Vicki Hancox was individual second.
The style jumping team will be Beth Evans, Vicki Hancox, Rebecca Harris and Liz Warner. The team was second at the area competition to win its championship place.
Worcester and District Riding Club won the style jumping at the national championships in 2005 and is hoping to bring the trophy back to Worcester.
