I WAS in London at the weekend.
I went to the theatre on Saturday night – I mean, why wouldn’t you have a busman's holiday?
I went to see the Monty Python show, Spamalot, and very good it was too.
We were meeting some friends who are over from Australia, so I wanted to get good seats.
The finances were interesting.
The tickets were £60 each, plus a £3.50 booking fee for each ticket. (Good value booking fee at Worcester Live – £1.50 for any number of tickets!).
The programmes were £7, and having bought one, we discovered it was a souvenir brochure, and that we had to buy another one for £3 to find out the cast list. We had a drink in the interval, two small bottles of beer, a small glass of wine and an orange juice – £22. So, per head for a ticket, a drink and a programme, £79.
If you came to a professional show at the Swan, the same thing would cost you about £21.50. And the moral of the story is…….answers on a postcard please!
Last thoughts on the Worcester Festival …very wet but a great festival and brilliant fireworks.
We reckon that 10-12,000 people turned up for them. Fantastic!!
