A MAN was rescued from a blazing narrowboat at 5am today.
As fire ripped through the 20ft boat moored at Diglis Basin, Worcester, the man on board managed to get to safety by standing at the bow.
A firefighter from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service then used a dingy to rescue him.
The boat is still afloat but badly damaged.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “The middle aged man required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation but he was not burnt. There was no one else on the boat.
“Our fire investigators will now endeavour to determine how it started.”
By 6am the blaze had been put out.
