A MAN who stole a £3.56 bottle of sherry will not be sentenced for another six months.
Darren Johns, 34, of Tallow Hill, Worcester, had his sentence deferred when he stood at Worcester Magistrates Court - giving him an opportunity to prove he can keep out of trouble.
Rob Macrory, defending, asked the bench to delay sentencing as Johns was making good progress.
“He is attending the Community Drugs Team (CDT) on his on volition and has just been to Worcester Technology College open day. He told them about his drug past and they are going to accept him on a City and Guilds Engineering course.”
Magistrates agreed to defer on the conditions Johns did not reoffend, attends CDT, saves money and keeps in contact with the Probation Service. He will be sentenced for the theft on Friday, February 27 2009.
