A FORMER Worcester City football director will change his boots for running shoes to raise money for Leukaemia CARE during the Great North Run. Bob Marley is hoping he’ll be able to ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ like his famous namesake when he tackles his second BUPA Great North Run on Sunday, October 5. He will join an anticipated 52,000 people entering the world’s biggest half-marathon, which starts in Newcastle and finishes 13 miles away in South Shields. Mr Marley, who has also completed two Flora London Marathons for the charity, said: “I have to admit, I haven’t put in as much training as I should, so far, but I know from experience that the atmosphere on the day will be enough to get me through as it has in my previous races – although I know it’s really going to hurt at the end.” Mr Marley is hoping to raise at least £1,000 for Leukaemia CARE.
