ANYONE who enjoys the best of local produce – and likes a little live jazz thrown in – should head to Bromsgrove for the town’s first-ever food festival.
The festival, arranged by Bromsgrove Economic Development and Worcestershire Farmers’ Markets, will be in the High Street from 9am to 5pm today and tomorrow.
Henry Wormington, chairman of the farmers’ market group, said: “As well as the best fruit and vegetables in season, traditionally-farmed meats, baked goods, preserves, wine, cider and juices, we will have plenty of stalls selling speciality goods.
“Fab Foods has delicious ready-toserve desserts, all kinds of olives from The Olive Lady, the Snoggable Garlic Company will have garlic in different marinades (without the after-taste) and there will be cakes and preserves from the country markets stall.
“Our producers usually have samples available, so you can try before you buy. There’s going to be a jazz band playing too so it should be a great day out and a wonderful opportunity to try some new food and drinks.”
There will also be several craft stalls, including handmade jewellery and wood crafts.
Next weekend sees the first-ever Health Day event in Droitwich. This special event combines healthy eating from the farmers’ market alongside a huge range of health experts from around the town on hand to give advice.
Organised by the Knee Foundation, Health Day is going to be a great day out for all the family and runs from 9am-2pm on Saturday, September 6.
Whatever you’re worried about when it comes to your body you can come along and get yourself checked out. Experts will be on hand to give tips, there will be lots of things to have a go at and it’s a great chance to find out about the health projects and services within Droitwich that can help you lead a healthier life.
There will be opportunities to get your body MOT’d, find out about healthy eating or even try out different exercises and, best of all, it is completely free. The event includes free examinations, free exercise and dance classes and demonstrations. It’s all about celebrating health and well-being.
Younger family members can have fun making gory fake wounds out of wax to shock their friends and check out gruesome medical equipment from the past. There is also a fancy dress competition for anyone under 15. It’s health-related, so you could come as a doctor, nurse or even a healthy fruit or vegetable.
