CYCLISTS have heeded police warnings to keep their bikes locked safely in Worcester.
Your Worcester News reported last year how police warned owners to keep their bikes locked safely in Worcester city centre or face having them taken away.
We reported how officers were considering confiscating unlocked bicycles from the city’s streets in an attempt to stop them being stolen by thieves.
However the warning has worked as police did not have to enforce the action.
A Worcester Police spokesman said they did not need to take away any bikes during this time.
He added: “It was set up to get owners of bikes to secure them properly and also to put-off any opportunistic thieves considering taking bikes from the city centre, which it seemed to do.”
However he added cyclists should still take care to always properly secure their bikes.
