A man trying to drive the wrong way up a one way street in Worcester has admitted drink-driving.

Worcester Magistrates Court heard Ryan Daw’s Volkswagen Passat was seen edging up Queen Street by police officers on patrol at around 3am on Saturday, June 14.

A blood test revealed Daw, ]23, had 108 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood - although the limit is 80mg.

Representing himself, Daw, of Thompson Place, Hereford, said it was a foolish thing to do and he was very sorry.

A letter from his employers said he would lose his job as a plumbing and heating engineer if he was disqualified.

However, magistrates disqualified him for 12 months, fined him £200 and ordered him to pay £60 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
