A WORCESTER business its doing its bit to help hard-up drivers save money at the petrol pumps.
The HiQ centre in Droitwich Road, Worcester, is offering free tyre checks after a recent questionnaire revealed 24 per cent of motorists never check their tyres and 79 per cent do not know what the legal tyre tread limit.
HiQ’s regional manager John Johnston said not carrying out regular maintenance checks could mean people were paying more than necessary for fuel.
He said: “According to TyreSafe, of which HiQ are members, under inflated tyres are costing motorists over £2 billion in fuel worldwide and releasing 5.5 million tonnes of Greenhouse gasses.
He added: “We would urge motorists to check their tyres fortnightly as a minimum.”
He advised people to look for splits or cracks and check tyres were wearing evenly.
