A SMALL saucepan fire at a 15th century merchant’s house was quickly put out by fire fighters.
The fire happened at the kitchen of The Greyfriars in Friar Street, Worcester, after someone left a saucepan on the boil.
Two fire crews from Worcester arrived at the scene shortly before 6pm and left the property half an hour later following the fire yesterday evening.
Fire fighters received an initial call from someone who said they could smell burning.
No damage was caused to the property which was built in 1480 and rescued from demolition in the 1930s.
A spokesman for the National Trust, which manages the property, said: “It was just a smoking pan. There was no damage and it was dealt with very quickly. . Someone just forgot to switch the hob off.”
