PEOPLE who are trying to shift the pounds are being warned of a bogus weight-loss product.
The small pink adhesive patch, marketed by a company in Sheffield, is advertised on the internet.
The patch, which costs £35.95 a month, claims to control appetite, lower cholesterol and boost the immune system, but no evidence has been found to justify these claims.
Trading Standards submitted a sample to Worcestershire Scientific Services for testing where a public analyst said: “The product is a complete confidence trick.”
The Advertising Standards Authority said trials have not been carried out on humans and claims of rapid weight loss were not substantiated.
It concluded the advert was “irresponsible.”
Leanne McLean, trading standards officer, said: “We would urge residents not to be fooled by the fantastical claims made by the product and to consult a medical practitioner before beginning any weight loss plan.”
