MORE of the village of Whittington may become a conservation area under new plans from Wychavon District Council.
As part of a review of the conservation area, the council is looking at changing the boundary.
Carol Marsden, the council’s senior conservation officer said: "There are changes proposed to the conservation area to include more of the village.
“Whittington dates back to Saxon times and it would once have been a farming settlement.
“There are still lots of ridge and furrow in surrounding fields as evidence of medieval farming.
“The village that we see today has its roots in that early development over 1,000 years ago."
The council is currently working on a Conservation area character appraisal and management plan to identify the special interest of the area and decide how it would be best preserved and enhanced in the future.
The plan could also affect any future planning applications within the area.
A presentation on the review was held at Whittington Village Hall in July.
More information is available from wychavon.gov.uk, at the Civic Centre in Pershore, Pershore library and at Whittington Village Hall during normal opening hours.
