AN extra three bridges could be placed over a stream on Malvern Common to enable better access for people in wheelchairs, using motorised disabled vehicles or with pushchairs.
A project by Malvern Hills Conservators to put six new crossings over streams on the common above the railway line is nearing completion.
The conservators have spent £4,500 from the gift fund, which holds donations and bequests from people with a particular love of the Malvern Hills, to create the six crossing places suitable for disabled people.
Conservators director Ian Rowat is now recommending a further three bridges should be installed below the railway line so that disabled people can cross a stream flowing from a pond near Longridge Road.
“This project has received a favourable response from users of the common,” he said.
He is asking the conservators administration and resources committee to release a further £2,400 from the gift fund for the extra bridges. The matter will be discussed by the committee on Thursday.
