MORE than 200 visitors were given a taste of what life must have been like in the 16th Century during two special events at Worcester’s Tudor House.
Adults and children alike were given the chance to dress up in Tudor costumes at the Friar Street venue on Wednesday and Saturday last week and learn a bit more about how Henry VIII and his contemporaries would have lived their lives.
Although life was probably very hard for most people during that period, visitors discovered that there were still many favourable aspects to the age. There were weaving demonstrations, musicians playing Tudor instruments, food displays and even an apothecary, who showed how the people in those days made potions to try to ward off the plague.
Margaret Panter, house manager at Tudor House, said: “It was a very successful event and we’re really pleased with the number of visitors. At one point we had to shut the gates and not let anybody else in.”
