A SONG celebrating the diverse Worcester music scene has been penned by local artists BlueRADI. The relatively new group, overflowing with talented members, found inspiration for the song, We’re Not Just Sauce, in the forthcoming Worcester Music Festival.

The eagerly-awaited event will see more than 100 artists play live in pubs, clubs and cafes throughout Worcester over one weekend.

BlueRADIO, taking part themselves, have embodied the aim and attitude of organisers with their new track – set to be the festival’s anthem.

“It’s a kind of dedication to the Worcester Music Festival,” said BlueRADIO’s Haydn Rogers, a man determined to put our city on the musical map.

“It’s a brilliant idea. We’ve got so many amazing artists here and, in my opinion, they are simply not getting their publicity they deserve.”

In February this year, Rogers set up the BlueRADIO Project.

He’d meet with friends to discuss gigs and write songs.

As more people joined him, a band naturally formed and the past few months have seen BlueRADIO performing live all over Worcestershire.

“We were keen to keep the project separate from the band,” said Rogers. “We started touring in late June and haven’t really stopped.

“Most of the shows were good. Most, because we did have a broken microphone and, at one gig, we lost all power and had to play completely unplugged outside, but it worked out pretty well.”

That kind of refreshing creativity drives both the band and project. It also enthuses others.

“I feel kind of proud that a song of this quality has been written about the Worcester music scene,” said Chris Bennion, co-organiser of the festival.

“I love this band; they’re all extremely talented musicians and deserve all the success and support they can get.

It just goes to show that Worcester is an amazingly healthy hotbed of talent and is just starting to show itself.”
