MANY students have been jumping for joy following the release of A-level results, today.
Celebrations were particularly heartfelt at Evesham High School, where all 60 A-level candidates passed with grades A to E, with 37 per cent achieving grade As and Bs.
Caroline Brown, headteacher, said: “Once again with a 100 per cent pass rate and a third getting the top two grades, Evesham High has shown itself to be a school that aims for and achieves the best for all its pupils.”
At Droitwich Spa High School there was a slight drop in the pass rate from 93.5 per cent last year to 93 per cent.
However, 57 per cent of students achieved overall points equivalent to 3 grade As.
Rob Elmes, head of sixth form, said :"This is a superb set of results which is testament to all the hard work and commitment of the students and the support and guidance they received from their teachers and parents.”
He added the results together with the experience of sixth form would help “excellently” prepare students for their next step in life.
At Dyson Perrins CE Sports College, Malvern, there was a drop is the overall pass rate at Dyson Perrins CE Sports College at 96 per cent, down from 99.1 per cent last year.
David Griffin, headteacher, said: “We are delighted that students performed so well in their recent exams.
“Excellent results have been achieved as a result of the hard work and commitment of students and staff.”
He added students could now “look forward” to university or further post-18 education.
There were celebrations at indepedent school, Malvern College, which posted the third best A-level results in its history with an overall pass rate of 99 per cent The college had a pass rate for A and B grades of 65 per cent, which combined with International Baccalaureate (IB) results was the equivalent of an 80 per cent pass rate, at grades A to B.
Dr Sarah Welch, acting head, said: “Our pupils have worked with focus and application to gain such excellent results.
“Along with our IB candidates who also did splendidly this year, they can be very proud of their academic achievement which will open so many doors for them in the future.”
