STUDENTS have been finding out how they did in this year's A-levels as results were released today.

At Pershore High School the overall pass rate was 97 per cent, slightly down on last year.

Candidates gaining passes at grades A to C was 74.9 per cent, with 50.3 per cent achieving passes at grades A to B.

Clive Corbett, headteacher, congratulated all students on their hard work in producing "marvellous results", and thanked school staff for their efforts.

Girls at St Mary's Convent School, Worcester, enjoyed an overall pass rate of 97 per cent. Seventy-four per cent achieved passes at grades A to C, with 54 per cent at grades A to B.

Susan Cookson, headmistress, said "I am delighted at the success of all of our girls."

At King's School, Worcester, the overall pass rate was 99.5 per cent, with 93.3 per cent achieving passes at grades A to C. Eighty-one per cent secured passes at 81 per cent.

Tim Keyes, headmaster, said: "I am delighted for the boys and girls and for their parents, and am full of admiration for the teachers at King’s who have worked so closely with this year group to help them achieve these results."

The overall pass rate at Malvern St James was 99 per cent. The percentage of girls achieving passes at grades A to C was 90 per cent, and 78.2 per cent for grades A to B.

A school spokeswoman said: "Congratulations to all girls and staff on their success in achieving a well-deserved set of results."

Bromsgrove School's students achieved a pass rate of 99.8 per cent, with 87 per cent gaining passes at grade A to B.

Chris Edwards, headmaster, said: "People wanting academic battery farms can look elsewhere: at Bromsgrove, it is breadth of opportunity and sky-high expectations which generate excellence.”
