THE Malvern Hills Conservators are to reinstate the historic management of a wood on the west side of the hills.
The 40-acre Park Wood, which lies within West Malvern Road, The Purlieu and Brockhill Road, has not been actively managed for a number of years and the hazel trees are becoming overshadowed and are now dying.
Conservators conservation officer Rob Harvard said it is a good example of a hazel coppice woodland and, if well managed, it would benefit the wildlife.
The conservators land management agreed to Mr Harvard’s recommendation to reinstate the historic management of the wood, apply for a government Woodland Grant Scheme and work with coppice crafts worker Dave Jackson to manage the wood.
